I have created this website in order to organize the Adolescent Literature I have. In order to make the website, it had to have been a book I own and have read. I created a summary of each book. At the end of the entry is a tag. The tags are the themes of the book. If you see the words on the right side of the website, those are the tags, the themes. If you click on one of the words, all the books that fit that theme are shown. The bigger the tag is written, the more posts are on that subject. All tags are not showing up in that format, a bug I am still trying to work out.
Children and Adolescent Literature is my passion. I want to specialize in this field. In order to prepare myself for this career, I believe I need to read as many books as possible. That has been my goal the past year ( and my professional development goal this last semester). Every day I read for at least 10 minutes out of an Adolescent book. I read about one book a week.
I really believe no matter what age level I end up teaching, literature is key. In order to use literature, I must know literature. I think that reading every day will help me be very knowledgeable. I also have found knowing current literature has helped my interact with my students. If I see a particular student is reading a book I have also read, I share that with him/her. This creates an instant bond between the teacher and the student.
I have chose the use of a website to organize my information. I have read so much that I begin to forget what I am reading. In order to document books I have read, I created this website. I believe it is ascetically more pleasing than a word document. Also I really like the ability to search by tags (themes). I plan on adding to this website when I finish more Literature to add to my collection.
